瓦锡兰20自20世纪90年代初进入市场以来，已经证明了它的坚固性和可靠性，交付了6000多台发动机。发动机可以从MDO切换到HFO，反之亦然，在任何发动机运行负荷下都不会中断电源。
瓦锡兰20发动机完全符合《防污公约》73/78附件六中规定的IMO二级废气排放法规。

The Wärtsilä 20 has proven its robustness and reliability with over 6000 engines delivered since its introduction to the market in the early 1990s. The engine can switch from MDO to HFO and vice versa without power interruption at any engine operation load.
The Wärtsilä 20 engine is fully compliant with the IMO Tier II exhaust emissions regulations set out in Annex VI of the MARPOL 73/78 convention.
